System Requirements for the X-System
| System Requirements X-Plane 7.00 requires at least: =>256 meg of RAM. (512 is needed to run fast though) =>3-D accelerator video card that supports OpenGL, with at least 16 meg of VRAM. =>A CD-ROM drive, and a monitor that goes to at least 1024 x 768. If you are not sure if your video card has at least 16 meg of VRAM or supports OpenGL, you can check with your video card manufacturer or try to figure it out yourself as follows: Windows users can probably figure this out by going to "My Computer:Control Panel:System:Device manager:Video Adapter" and checking on the drivers installed... they may mention OpenGL. Windows users should be sure to install Direct-X 8 from www.Microsoft.com and the latest video drivers for their video card from the web page of the video card manufacturer. Macintosh users may be able to figure out their video card from the "System Profiler" in the Apple menu or the ATI control panels found in most Macintosh control panel folders. Get the latest video drivers (extensions) from the web page of your video card manufacturer as well... most like ATI (www.ATI.com) in most cases. If your video card has less than 8 meg of VRAM or does not support OpenGL, then you need a new one. We like the Nvidia GeForce-3 (for Windows) and ATI Radeon (for Mac) at the time of this writing, but you would be crazy not to check www.X-Plane.com before you buy since this information changes so fast it may be out of date by the time you read this. |
What Joysticks you can use Other Hardware You Can use See the "Equipment Options" screen in the "Settings" menu of X-Plane to see the latest hardware that X-Plane can work with. There is a good handful of helicopter controls, radio stacks, special joysticks, etc. that you can choose from. |
